GLOBAL WARMING SCIENTISTS TRAPPED IN ANTARCTIC ICE

The MSM has glossed over this rather inconvenient bit of hilarity.

Nazi Gesture "Quenelle" Goes Mainstream

Never heard the word. Neither have I until today. The gesture was invented by French political activist and comedian Dieudonné M'bala M'bala, while running for office on the anti-Zionist party.
While Dieudonne says the quenelle is "an anti-establishment gesture," critics of it say it takes the appearance of a Nazi salute in reverse, making it an expression of anti-Semitism.
The Quenelle is performed by holding one arm straight by your side while the opposite hand points at your other shoulder. Recently Tony Parker of the San Antonio Spurs was photographed giving the gesture with his French friend Dieudonne.

Free Speech Impediment

Poor Phil Robertson, patriarch of the Duck Dynasty. He said some things about homosexuality that echo my comments of December 24th, 2005 in my review of Brokeback Mountain. I wrote:
The cinamatography was stunning. The mountains in Wyoming were very tall, rugged, untamed, exactly like the men you would expect to inhabit such grandeur. Only these two rugged men, living isolated watching over a flock of sheep, decided to make the sheep safe, and fell in love with each other. Then after the tryst, with Jack Twist, Ennis went off and married a beautiful woman and had kids and Jack went off and married a beautiful woman, had a kid and sneaked off to Mexico for male prostitutes. Sure, the poor boys pined for each other, enough to recall every lost love you’ve ever had. Every other month or so over the next ten years, Jack and Ennis, would leave all family responsibilities behind and get together for manly love.
Needless to say, my wife enjoyed the movie more than I did. I have a few “nits” with the film. It seemed that Jack Twist was experienced sexually and Ennis Dalman was a virgin. I base this conclusion on a conversation the two had around a camp fire. Ennis was talking about sin and going to hell. Jack thought both would go to hell, since we are all sinners. Ennis disagreed since he was without sin, unlike Jack. Now, I am inexperienced in the nuances of gay love, but the two’s first sex is anal sex performed by Ennis on Jack. Wouldn’t you just play around the first time. If you are horny, living out in the mountains with sheep, wouldn’t you predict that the sheep would be first to be tried.
Phil Robertson has been fired for his comments, quickly I might add, while Martin Bashir's comments about Sarah Palin only caused his resignation after weeks of protest by conservatives. It's dangerous to your career to exercise your right to free speech only if you're not a liberal.

Alex Stanczyk: Physical Gold Supply Never Been Tighter

In an interview at IN GOLD WE TRUST, Alex Stanczyk, Chief Market Strategist for the Anglo Far- East group of companies, who just returned from a trip to Switzerland. Alex confirmed to me the distribution of gold from west to east is not slowing down whatsoever. Refineries in Switzerland are still working 24 hour a day to cast bars for China, sometimes having difficulties sourcing the gold.
What I do know is that we are on the threshold of a situation that has never occurred before. A (Gold) squeeze is imminent, it could take 3 months or 6 months, but all I know is that it’s coming, and I know that with 100 % certainty.
What this means to me is at some point soon, we will wake to a new paradigm: Gold will be unavailable at any price and Silver won't be far behind.

Got Gold?

Yesterday Was Bill of Rights Day!

Tim Lynch at Cato at Liberty writes

"... it’s an appropriate time to consider the state of our constitutional safeguards.

Let’s consider each amendment in turn.

The First Amendment says that “Congress shall make no law… abridging the freedom of speech.” Government officials, however, have insisted that they can gag recipients of “national security letters” and censor broadcast ads in the name of campaign finance reform.

The Second Amendment says the people have the right “to keep and bear arms.” Government officials, however, make it difficult to keep a gun in the home and make it a crime for a citizen to carry a gun for self-protection.

The Third Amendment says soldiers may not be quartered in our homes without the consent of the owners.  This safeguard is one of the few that is in fine shape – so we can pause here for a laugh.

The Fourth Amendment says the people have the right to be secure against unreasonable searches and seizures. Government officials, however, insist that they can conduct commando-style raids on our homes and treat automobile drivers like prison inmates by conducting body cavity searches.

The Fifth Amendment says that private property shall not be taken “for public use without just compensation.” Government officials, however, insist that they can use eminent domain to take away our property and give it to other private parties who covet it.

The Sixth Amendment says that in criminal prosecutions, the person accused is guaranteed a right to trial by jury. Government officials, however, insist that they can punish people who want to have a trial—“throwing the book” at those who refuse to plead guilty—which explains why 95 percent of the criminal cases never go to trial.

The Seventh Amendment guarantees the right to a jury trial in civil cases where the controversy “shall exceed twenty dollars.” Government officials, however, insist that they can impose draconian fines on people without jury trials.

The Eighth Amendment prohibits cruel and unusual punishments. Government officials, however, insist that a life sentence for a nonviolent drug offense is not cruel.

The Ninth Amendment says that the enumeration in the Constitution of certain rights should not be construed to deny or disparage others “retained by the people.” Government officials, however, insist that they will decide for themselves what rights, if any, will be retained by the people.

The Tenth Amendment says that the powers not delegated to the federal government are reserved to the states, or to the people. Government officials, however, insist that they will decide for themselves what powers they possess, and have extended federal control over health care, crime, education, and other matters the Constitution reserves to the states and the people.

It’s a disturbing snapshot, to be sure, but not one the Framers of the Constitution would have found altogether surprising. They would sometimes refer to written constitutions as mere “parchment barriers,” or what we call “paper tigers.”  They nevertheless concluded that having a written constitution was better than having nothing at all.
The key point is this: A free society does not just “happen.”  It has to be deliberately created and deliberately maintained.  Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty.

To remind our fellow citizens of their responsibility in that regard, the Cato Institute has distributed more than five million copies of our pocket Constitution.  At this time of year, it’ll make a great stocking stuffer.
Let’s enjoy the holidays–but let’s also resolve to be more vigilant about defending our Constitution.  To learn more about Cato’s work in defense of the Constitution, go here.  To support the work of Cato, go here.

Portland Teachers and Drivers Headed For A Strike?

One of the nation’s largest school bus companies has announced it is closing its doors after union members voted to reject a contract that would have kept the company in business.

With its labor costs among the highest in the nation, Atlantic Express, a Staten Island, NY bus company attempted to negotiate a new contract with the Amalgamated Transit Union.
However, union members rejected the deal last week.
The city opened up the 4,100 school bus routes to bidding and for the first time non-union companies could compete.
The city of Portland is currently negotiating with the teachers union and school bus drivers are negotiating with First Student. Drivers, members of the ATU rejected the last contract offer. It now appears likely both teachers and drivers will strike after January 6, 2014.  Is the answer to go the non-union route and is Portland looking at a repeat of New York? Stay tuned.

Thanks a lot!

Rep. Matt Cartwright (D., Penn.) called the possibility of more Americans losing their insurance policies under Obamacare “a good thing” in an interview on MSNBC LiveFriday.
MATT CARTWRIGHT: I think you’re dealing in large part in semantics there, Thomas. Because a lot of those people, they did have policies that didn’t meet the minimum standards. That’s just not a theoretical discussion. There’s a reason you have minimum standards. There are people out there who have insurance that’s really, it’s an illusion of coverage. They have immense deductibles. They have annual and lifetime caps. There’s so many people out there with what I call phony insurance policies, and the fact that they’re going to lose those policies, sooner or later, I think is a good thing. Because what we’re up to here is we are strengthening the health care system in this country.
I'll tell you what Matt, we chose a lesser policy with high deductible because it fit our budget and still cover catastrophic illnesses. Now the only policy available is one that is $200 per month higher. Which puts us back in a can't afford category. Thanks a lot!

THE PRESIDENT MUST RESIGN

I agree with Jack Wheeler at To The Point News:

"...this president is the most corrupt, dishonest, incompetent, and divisive in anyone's memory; that his presidency is one of utter failure, whether in terms of jobs and the economy or national security and foreign policy; that we can no longer afford such incompetence and failure such that, for the good of his country, he should resign immediately.

[...]

"Our country, our government, our economy, our society and culture, our rule of law, our national security cannot withstand over three more years of this president's illegality, usurpation of the Constitution, phony-crony capitalist corruption, strategy of dividing Americans against each other, serial lying and dishonesty, and unrelieved failure and incompetence any longer."

THE PRESIDENT MUST RESIGN

Obamacare Delayed Again!

In a time when the MSM is urged to report only positive stories about Obamacare, Politico's JASON MILLMAN reports that... "The Obama administration today announced a year-long delay of online enrollment for small businesses looking to purchase health coverage through federal-run exchanges, another setback for HealthCare.gov. The delay, first reported by POLITICO, comes just weeks after Obama administration officials said the online enrollment for small businesses would be ready by the end of November. The announcement also comes just three days before the White House promises HealthCare.gov will provide a smoother enrollment experience for most users trying to purchase individual and family coverage. Fixing the problems with the individual market has been the White House priority.

Is This Our Future?

Suppose you could rent your house for $2,000 a month, the home-price-to-rent-ratio here in PDX might be around 17. The chart shows that in places like Sweden, the UK, France, and Canada, for example, sport ratios up to 90 times the home price. With all the money sloshing around the world and China buying real estate in the U.S, could our ratio in PDX double? That could mean at least a double in the price of our homes. That is the effect of inflation!

Got Gold?

Very Terrifying!

DOES OBAMA WANT IRAN TO HAVE NUKES?PrintE-mail
Written by Caroline Glick
Wednesday, 27 November 2013

Obama never explained how allowing Iran to continue to enrich uranium decreases the likelihood of war.

It isn't surprising that the US and the other five powers signed a deal with Iran last Saturday (11/23). Over the past few weeks, US President Barack Hussein Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry made it clear that they were committed to signing a deal with Iran as quickly as possible.

And it isn't surprising that the deal these overeager leaders signed with the world's leading state sponsor of terrorism makes the world a much more dangerous place than it was before the agreement was concluded.

With the US and its allies far more eager to reach an accord with Iran on its illicit nuclear weapons program than Iran was, it was obvious from the outset that any deal ultimately reached, at least as long as these negotiating conditions remained in force, would facilitate rather than inhibit Iran's quest to build a nuclear arsenal.

And indeed, the sanctions relief that Iran has gained simply by signing on the dotted line will be sufficient to buffet the Iranian economy through a successful nuclear weapons test.

Iran will achieve nuclear capability while enriching itself through the deal because the deal gives Iran sanctions relief without requiring Iran to make any irreversible concessions. Indeed, Iran just received the international community's permission to continue to enrich uranium, keep all its nuclear installations open and build new centrifuges.

While the deal isn't surprising in and of itself, Obama's decision to conclude it now makes clear the true goal of his foreign policy. To understand that goal, it is first necessary to consider an aspect of the deal that, on the surface, makes little sense.

The negotiations with the Iranians that culminated in Saturday night's agreement went on for a year.  And yet, the final deal reflects Iran's opening positions.   That is, over the course of the entire year, American and European negotiators were not able to move Iran's positions one iota.

So what has the Obama administration been doing for the past year? Since Iran's positions were the same all along, why didn't they sign this deal a year ago? The US's strength relative to Iran did not diminish significantly since a year ago. So the US didn't need this agreement more now than it did a year ago.

Clearly, Obama did not spend the last year trying to build domestic American support for a deal that enables the regime that calls daily for the annihilation of America to become a nuclear power. With Iran building military bases all over Central and South America, Obama never bothered trying to make the case to the American people that they would be more secure with this regime in possession of the capacity to kill millions of Americans with one bomb.

Obama never stood before the Congress to explain how a deal that gives America's Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval to Iran's illicit nuclear weapons program advances US national security. He never explained how allowing Iran to continue to enrich uranium decreases the likelihood of war.

So what did Obama need the last year for? If he wasn't concerned with getting a less dangerous deal, and he didn't care what the American people thought about his facilitation of Iran's nuclear weapons program, what prevented him from okaying the agreement last year?

To ascertain the answer, it is worth considering Israeli Finance Minister Yair Lapid's comments Sunday morning (11/24). Beyond noting the nuclear deal's danger to Israel's security, Lapid said, "I am worried not only over the deal but that we have lost the world's attention."

And indeed, Israel has lost the world's attention. Its appropriately deep concerns over Iran's nuclear behavior were belittled, ignored and derided, first and foremost by the Obama administration. Worse than belittling Israel's concerns, which are completely shared by the Sunni Arab world, Obama and Kerry have castigated as warmongers those Americans who agree with Israel's concerns and have attacked them as traitors who seek to push America into an unnecessary war.

At the same time, they have presented the dispute as one of Israel against the rest of the world, ignoring that the Sunni Arab world shares Israel's concerns.

Statements to this effect from US officials have been legion since the details of the deal were first divulged to Israel and the Gulf States by the French and the British three weeks ago.

The brazenness of these anti-Israel statements points to the main action that Obama and his advisors have engaged in for the past year, while not moving Iran a millimeter from its opening position at the nuclear talks.

Over the past year, Obama has engaged in systematically weakening Israel's position both regionally and in Washington. Regionally, the US has forced Israel into talks with the Palestinians that are engineered to weaken Israel strategically and diplomatically. The US has delegitimized Israel's legal rights to sovereignty and self-defense, while effectively justifying Palestinian terrorism as a legitimate response to Israeli actions - which themselves were perfectly legal. So, too, the US has given a green light to the EU's illegal, discriminatory economic war against Israel.

Beyond that, the Obama administration has significantly expanded the prospect of war between Israel and Syria by leaking Israeli strikes against Syrian targets that posed a threat to Israel's security.

The US has also weakened Israel's capacity to take steps short of war to prevent Iran from becoming a nuclear weapons possessing state by leaking key components of Israel's covert operations against Iran's nuclear program.

Further, Obama appointed outspoken critics of the US-Israel alliance to key positions in his national security team. First and foremost in this arena was his appointment of Chuck Hagel to serve as defense secretary.

The culmination of this long process of delegitimizing Israel as a warmongering, ungrateful ally and its supporters as turncoats who are forcing the US to endanger itself for the benefit of the Jewish state was the administration's hysterical campaign against Israel and its supporters in the lead-up to Saturday's signing ceremony in Geneva. Everyone, from the White House to Kerry, accused Israel and its supporters of trying to force the US to fight an unnecessary war.

When we consider Obama's decision to wait for a year to sign the deal that enables Iran to become a nuclear power in the context of his main activities over the past year, we understand his foreign policy.

But why would an American president have as goals of his foreign policy to weaken Israel and allow Iran to have nuclear weapons? What does he intend to accomplish for his country by achieving these goals?  The answers might be terrifying.

PRUDEN: Obama’s Full Grovel To Iran

“Looking back at the past decade,” wrote Mohammad Mohammadi, regarded as an Iranian authority on his country’s nuclear affairs, “all the red lines by America and the West over Iran’s nuclear issue have now been transformed into acceptance. Where are the statesmen who will challenge Obama and his groveling?

Irony #3

It is amazingly pathetic that President Obama won’t let you keep your insurance plan, but he will let the Iranians keep their enriched uranium program. Just what sort of idiot will negotiate with terrorist regimes, but not with Americans?

Iran is ‘Spiking the Football in the End Zone’

CNSNews.com) – Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.), ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said on “Fox News Sunday” said that Iran got the better of the United States and its allies in a weekend deal that lifts economic sanctions and unfreezes $8 billion in Iranian assets while allowing Iran to enrich uranium.

David Horowitz Compares Iran Deal To Munich

This Is Worth Repeating!

CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER:It’s really hard to watch the President and the Secretary of State and not think how they cannot be embarrassed by this deal. Think about this: half a dozen times, the Security Council has passed resolutions which said Iran has to stop all enrichment otherwise there’ll be no change in the sanctions, no relief. Which means six times China and Russia – not exactly hardliners on Iran – have signed on to this.
And what is the result of this agreement? Iran retains the right to enrich. It continues to enrich during the six months. It is promised a final deal in which we’re going to work out the details of its enrichment. And remember, enrichment is the dam against all proliferation. Once a country anywhere can start to enrich there is no containing its nuclear capacity. So it undermines the entire idea of nonproliferation, and it grants Iran a right it’s been lusting for for a decade. That’s why there was so much jubilation in Tehran over this.
Second, there’s a relaxation of sanctions which have really caused the Iranians to hurt, to worry about the stability of the regime, and to come and negotiate. What happens on sanctions? There’s going to be a huge infusion of cash which can reduce the inflation, can alleviate the shortages. Already the rial, the currency, jumped three percent instantly as a result of this agreement. This is a huge relief for the Iranians, and it can only increase over time.
What do we get in return? I just heard the Secretary of State say we’re going to get a destruction of the 20 percent uranium. That is simply untrue. What’s going to happen is the 20 percent enriched uranium is going to be turned into an oxide so it’s inoperative. That process is completely chemically reversible, which means Iran holds on to its 20 percent uranium and can turn it into active stuff any time it wants.
This is a sham from beginning to end. It’s the worst deal since Munich.

Hypocrisy!

Stories Of Obamacare

Jacqueline Proctor: Take, for example, Jacqueline Proctor of San Francisco. She and her husband are in their early 60s. They have been paying $7,200 a year for a bare-bones Kaiser Permanente health plan with a $5,000 per person annual deductible. “Kaiser told us the plan does not comply with Obamacare and the substitute will cost more than twice as much,” about $15,000 per year, she says.
This new plan, Kaiser’s cheapest offering for 2014, would consume about 25 percent of their after-tax income. The new plan still has a $5,000 deductible but provides coverage for things her current policy does not, such as maternity care, healthy child visits and coverage for dependents up to age 26. Proctor has no use for such coverage, since her son is 30.

The Sounds Of Summer

Old Men Pitching Horseshoes By X.J. Kennedy

Back in a yard where ringers groove a ditch,
These four in shirtsleeves congregate to pitch
Dirt-burnished iron. With appraising eye,
One sizes up a peg, hoists and lets fly—
A clang resounds as though a smith had struck
Fire from a forge. His first blow, out of luck,
Rattles in circles. Hitching up his face,
He swings, and weight once more inhabits space,
Tumbles as gently as a new-laid egg.
Extended iron arms surround their peg
Like one come home to greet a long-lost brother.
Shouts from one outpost. Mutters from the other.

Now changing sides, each withered pitcher moves
As his considered dignity behooves
Down the worn path of earth where August flies
And sheaves of air in warm distortions rise,
To stand ground, fling, kick dust with all the force
Of shoes still hammered to a living horse.

Back In The News

Actually, our MSM just doesn't cover the disaster.

Jeb Bush To Honor Hillary Clinton

Jeb Bush will present Hillary Clinton with the 2013 Liberty Medal this fall in Philadelphia.

Let me quote Matt who says it better than I can:

Matt

Proof POSITIVE of why the Republican party has become WORTHLESS! I can't stand Hillary or the democrats...but when Jeb Bush accepts the HONOR of HONORING a low life like Hillary...well, then he's no better. I would never vote for the democrats ... as it stands now I wouldn't vote for the Republicans either.

DISGUSTING!

Immigration Bill Passes in Senate

You have to search hard to find out which Republicans voted for the bill as it passed 68 to 32. As I understand it, it needed 60 votes to pass. Here are the 14 Republicans who voted against yours and my interests:

Republican Sens. John McCain (Ariz.),
Lindsey Graham (S.C.),
Marco Rubio (Fla.),
Jeff Flake (Ariz.) — the four GOP authors of the legislation —
and Sens. Bob Corker (Tenn.),
Kelly Ayotte (N.H.),
Jeffery Chiesa (N.J.),
Susan Collins (Maine),
Orrin Hatch (Utah),
Dean Heller (Nev.),
Mark Kirk (Ill.),
John Hoeven (N.D.),
Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) and
Lamar Alexander (Tenn.) voted for the 1,200-page bill.

Those Senators are traitors to their party and should be targeted for recall. We can elect people who vote our interests!

Expect More Government Theft

Eric King interviewed Dr. Pippa Malgren on King World News, and this part of the interview was fascinating:
Dr.  Malmgren spoke about government theft going forward:  “Look, we are in a world where every major industrialized government doesn’t have the funds to deliver on the promises they’ve made to the public.  So they are going to reach for the public’s cash in different ways....

“Some of it is through higher taxes.  Some of it is what I would call ‘expropriation,’ although taxation and even inflation are a version of that.  But for example, Portugal, about a year ago, announced that they were nationalizing three of Portugal Telecom’s pension funds and placing the assets on the government’s balance sheet so that the government’s balance sheet would look better for the purposes of negotiating with the EU.

Now, were those pensioners expropriated?  Yes.  It made page 14 of the Wall Street Journal and the Financial Times, as if it was a non-event.  But I think what we saw in Cyprus, a really overt expropriation, we are going to see that come in lots of different forms (going forward).  Some of it will be obvious like Cyprus.  Some of it will be subtle like Portugal, but what’s sure is that it’s happening.”

Eric King:  “When you discuss that, really we are talking about theft, and when I spoke with Art Cashin about it, he talked about it violating the rule of law.”

Dr. Malmgren:  “Yes, it does come down to a very fundamental, political relationship between the citizen and the state ... So, yes, we have a really important political, philosophical battle now as states (and governments) try to find a way to take your cash in order to fund themselves, and not necessarily to the citizens best interest.”

Eric King:  “So going forward, if I’m hearing you correctly, expect more (government) theft.”

Dr. Malmgren:  “Really what’s happening is it’s a change in the rules of the game, which means that your cash is increasingly at risk of ending up in the government’s hands.  So this is what we need to be alert to around the world.”

I believe Dr. Malgren is totally correct in her assessment and we must protect ourselves and our families from our tyrannical governments

Let's Hear From The Judge

Some Of My Best Friends Are Lawyers

One afternoon a lawyer was riding in his limousine when he saw two men along the road-side eating grass.

Disturbed, he ordered his driver to stop and got out to investigate.
He asked one man, "Why are you eating grass?"

"We don't have any money for food," the poor man replied. "We have to eat grass."

"Well, then, you can come with me to my house and I'll feed you," the lawyer said.

"But sir, I have a wife and two children with me. They are over there, under that tree."

"Bring them along," the lawyer replied.

Turning to the other poor man he stated, "You may come with us,also."

The second man, in a pitiful voice, then said, "But sir, I also have a wife and six children with me!"

"Bring them all as well," the lawyer answered.

They all entered the car, which was no easy task, even
for a car as large as the limousine.

Once under way, one of the poor fellows turned to the lawyer and said,"Sir, you are too kind. Thank you for taking all of us with you.”

The lawyer replied, "Glad to do it.You'll really love my place. The grass is almost a foot high."

India Proscribes Liberty

"India has increased the duty on gold imports for the second time in six months, in an attempt to rein in surging demand for the precious metal."

India is the world's biggest consumer of gold and demand for the metal has been rising further

India's gold imports touched 162 tonnes in May, nearly twice the average level.

France Proscribes Liberty

France prohibits mailing of "...all forms of currency - coins and cash and all forms of precious metals – coins, bars and jewellery by mail." Two reasons:
  • Some have suggested that the decree is to limit what is known in France as “the anonymous market”, the market in which no taxes are paid and people are free to trade without the supervision of banks and government.
  • It may also be an attempt to restrict the growing private market in France of people buying bullion online through Ebay which is increasingly popular.
"The freedom of people to trade amongst themselves is a form of civil liberty as is the right to privacy."

The Sooner The Better!

“I will leave this office at some point – sometime in the next three and a half years,”

I Was Hacked!

It cost me $75 to find out I was hacked at Movermike.com and 15 hours of work at $125 per hour to put it back the way it was. There was no way I could spend almost $2,000, so I decided the bastards, who got me for my views on this regime (yes, I'm being paranoid),  weren't going to win, so I'm still here. I will continue writing about subjects that affect our Liberty or government actions that take away our Liberty. I will continue to write about Gold and Silver which are the "canary in the coal mine" that signal our currency is being devalued by the FED (Federal Reserve).

I will continue to write the truth about the economy as I see it; weather and it's effects; the hoax that is (gasp) global warming. I will continue writing book and movie reviews, writing about our culture and current TV. I will continue to bring you news about earthquakes in Oregon, because they are so rare and because I'm expecting a big one in Oregon. I will continue adding poetry and humor when appropriate.

I am just a semi-retired guy who spent almost 30 years as a stockbroker, another six years in marketing to high tech companies. I currently drive a school bus for Lincoln High students living in Forest Heights and in my spare time have a growing freelance writing business. I intend to spend six months a year in Mexico with my wife and write about our travels. I will continue blogging at Mover Mike Two, Landfair on Furniture, Mexico Calling, Mike Landfair Freelancer, and Market Bugle.

I WILL NOT SHUT UP!
