GLOBAL WARMING SCIENTISTS TRAPPED IN ANTARCTIC ICE

The MSM has glossed over this rather inconvenient bit of hilarity.

Nazi Gesture "Quenelle" Goes Mainstream

Never heard the word. Neither have I until today. The gesture was invented by French political activist and comedian Dieudonné M'bala M'bala, while running for office on the anti-Zionist party.
While Dieudonne says the quenelle is "an anti-establishment gesture," critics of it say it takes the appearance of a Nazi salute in reverse, making it an expression of anti-Semitism.
The Quenelle is performed by holding one arm straight by your side while the opposite hand points at your other shoulder. Recently Tony Parker of the San Antonio Spurs was photographed giving the gesture with his French friend Dieudonne.

Vote Them Out!

These people have figured it out. If the people you vote for don't fix our problems, don't be fools and vote for them again. Vote them out! That means Democrats and RINOs. They aren't working for us. They are working for themselves!

Free Speech Impediment

Poor Phil Robertson, patriarch of the Duck Dynasty. He said some things about homosexuality that echo my comments of December 24th, 2005 in my review of Brokeback Mountain. I wrote:
The cinamatography was stunning. The mountains in Wyoming were very tall, rugged, untamed, exactly like the men you would expect to inhabit such grandeur. Only these two rugged men, living isolated watching over a flock of sheep, decided to make the sheep safe, and fell in love with each other. Then after the tryst, with Jack Twist, Ennis went off and married a beautiful woman and had kids and Jack went off and married a beautiful woman, had a kid and sneaked off to Mexico for male prostitutes. Sure, the poor boys pined for each other, enough to recall every lost love you’ve ever had. Every other month or so over the next ten years, Jack and Ennis, would leave all family responsibilities behind and get together for manly love.
Needless to say, my wife enjoyed the movie more than I did. I have a few “nits” with the film. It seemed that Jack Twist was experienced sexually and Ennis Dalman was a virgin. I base this conclusion on a conversation the two had around a camp fire. Ennis was talking about sin and going to hell. Jack thought both would go to hell, since we are all sinners. Ennis disagreed since he was without sin, unlike Jack. Now, I am inexperienced in the nuances of gay love, but the two’s first sex is anal sex performed by Ennis on Jack. Wouldn’t you just play around the first time. If you are horny, living out in the mountains with sheep, wouldn’t you predict that the sheep would be first to be tried.
Phil Robertson has been fired for his comments, quickly I might add, while Martin Bashir's comments about Sarah Palin only caused his resignation after weeks of protest by conservatives. It's dangerous to your career to exercise your right to free speech only if you're not a liberal.

Alex Stanczyk: Physical Gold Supply Never Been Tighter

In an interview at IN GOLD WE TRUST, Alex Stanczyk, Chief Market Strategist for the Anglo Far- East group of companies, who just returned from a trip to Switzerland. Alex confirmed to me the distribution of gold from west to east is not slowing down whatsoever. Refineries in Switzerland are still working 24 hour a day to cast bars for China, sometimes having difficulties sourcing the gold.
What I do know is that we are on the threshold of a situation that has never occurred before. A (Gold) squeeze is imminent, it could take 3 months or 6 months, but all I know is that it’s coming, and I know that with 100 % certainty.
What this means to me is at some point soon, we will wake to a new paradigm: Gold will be unavailable at any price and Silver won't be far behind.

Got Gold?

Yesterday Was Bill of Rights Day!

Tim Lynch at Cato at Liberty writes

"... it’s an appropriate time to consider the state of our constitutional safeguards.

Let’s consider each amendment in turn.

The First Amendment says that “Congress shall make no law… abridging the freedom of speech.” Government officials, however, have insisted that they can gag recipients of “national security letters” and censor broadcast ads in the name of campaign finance reform.

The Second Amendment says the people have the right “to keep and bear arms.” Government officials, however, make it difficult to keep a gun in the home and make it a crime for a citizen to carry a gun for self-protection.

The Third Amendment says soldiers may not be quartered in our homes without the consent of the owners.  This safeguard is one of the few that is in fine shape – so we can pause here for a laugh.

The Fourth Amendment says the people have the right to be secure against unreasonable searches and seizures. Government officials, however, insist that they can conduct commando-style raids on our homes and treat automobile drivers like prison inmates by conducting body cavity searches.

The Fifth Amendment says that private property shall not be taken “for public use without just compensation.” Government officials, however, insist that they can use eminent domain to take away our property and give it to other private parties who covet it.

The Sixth Amendment says that in criminal prosecutions, the person accused is guaranteed a right to trial by jury. Government officials, however, insist that they can punish people who want to have a trial—“throwing the book” at those who refuse to plead guilty—which explains why 95 percent of the criminal cases never go to trial.

The Seventh Amendment guarantees the right to a jury trial in civil cases where the controversy “shall exceed twenty dollars.” Government officials, however, insist that they can impose draconian fines on people without jury trials.

The Eighth Amendment prohibits cruel and unusual punishments. Government officials, however, insist that a life sentence for a nonviolent drug offense is not cruel.

The Ninth Amendment says that the enumeration in the Constitution of certain rights should not be construed to deny or disparage others “retained by the people.” Government officials, however, insist that they will decide for themselves what rights, if any, will be retained by the people.

The Tenth Amendment says that the powers not delegated to the federal government are reserved to the states, or to the people. Government officials, however, insist that they will decide for themselves what powers they possess, and have extended federal control over health care, crime, education, and other matters the Constitution reserves to the states and the people.

It’s a disturbing snapshot, to be sure, but not one the Framers of the Constitution would have found altogether surprising. They would sometimes refer to written constitutions as mere “parchment barriers,” or what we call “paper tigers.”  They nevertheless concluded that having a written constitution was better than having nothing at all.
The key point is this: A free society does not just “happen.”  It has to be deliberately created and deliberately maintained.  Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty.

To remind our fellow citizens of their responsibility in that regard, the Cato Institute has distributed more than five million copies of our pocket Constitution.  At this time of year, it’ll make a great stocking stuffer.
Let’s enjoy the holidays–but let’s also resolve to be more vigilant about defending our Constitution.  To learn more about Cato’s work in defense of the Constitution, go here.  To support the work of Cato, go here.

Good Grief It's (Gasp) Global Warming!

Historic Israel snowstorm dumps  37 centimeters (15 inches) of snow with deeper snowfall in other areas, the heaviest December snowfall since 1953. In Cairo, the last recorded snowfall was more than 100 years ago.

Portland Teachers and Drivers Headed For A Strike?

One of the nation’s largest school bus companies has announced it is closing its doors after union members voted to reject a contract that would have kept the company in business.

With its labor costs among the highest in the nation, Atlantic Express, a Staten Island, NY bus company attempted to negotiate a new contract with the Amalgamated Transit Union.
However, union members rejected the deal last week.
The city opened up the 4,100 school bus routes to bidding and for the first time non-union companies could compete.
The city of Portland is currently negotiating with the teachers union and school bus drivers are negotiating with First Student. Drivers, members of the ATU rejected the last contract offer. It now appears likely both teachers and drivers will strike after January 6, 2014.  Is the answer to go the non-union route and is Portland looking at a repeat of New York? Stay tuned.

Thanks a lot!

Rep. Matt Cartwright (D., Penn.) called the possibility of more Americans losing their insurance policies under Obamacare “a good thing” in an interview on MSNBC LiveFriday.
MATT CARTWRIGHT: I think you’re dealing in large part in semantics there, Thomas. Because a lot of those people, they did have policies that didn’t meet the minimum standards. That’s just not a theoretical discussion. There’s a reason you have minimum standards. There are people out there who have insurance that’s really, it’s an illusion of coverage. They have immense deductibles. They have annual and lifetime caps. There’s so many people out there with what I call phony insurance policies, and the fact that they’re going to lose those policies, sooner or later, I think is a good thing. Because what we’re up to here is we are strengthening the health care system in this country.
I'll tell you what Matt, we chose a lesser policy with high deductible because it fit our budget and still cover catastrophic illnesses. Now the only policy available is one that is $200 per month higher. Which puts us back in a can't afford category. Thanks a lot!

THE PRESIDENT MUST RESIGN

I agree with Jack Wheeler at To The Point News:

"...this president is the most corrupt, dishonest, incompetent, and divisive in anyone's memory; that his presidency is one of utter failure, whether in terms of jobs and the economy or national security and foreign policy; that we can no longer afford such incompetence and failure such that, for the good of his country, he should resign immediately.

[...]

"Our country, our government, our economy, our society and culture, our rule of law, our national security cannot withstand over three more years of this president's illegality, usurpation of the Constitution, phony-crony capitalist corruption, strategy of dividing Americans against each other, serial lying and dishonesty, and unrelieved failure and incompetence any longer."

THE PRESIDENT MUST RESIGN

Good Grief!
